The Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture – TIA – was established in 1997 as a research and development partnership between the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE) and the University of Tasmania (UTAS). It meets the needs of Tasmanian agriculture through high quality and innovative research, development and extension work.
All research by postgraduates of the School of Agricultural Science at UTAS is conducted through TIA.
Two of TIA’s five centres are based at the Cradle Coast campus – the Vegetable Centre (with its research facility at Forthside) and the Dairy Centre (with its research facility at Elliott).
